What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power Management Lab Technician position at Ampere Computing?
The Role
The Processor and System Power Management Lab Technician at Ampere Computing will be a part of the Silicon Power and Performance Tuning (SPPT) team and works with a highly talented, motivated team with wide variety of experience levels in hardware to software and architecture to post-silicon tuning. You will support various power management lab setups, running stress tests and experiments, collecting data, and analyzing and debugging issues on Ampere SoCs using internal validation and customer reference boards. Attention to detail, a fault detection mindset, thinking out of the box, quality first, and making decisions backed by data are some of the important characteristics expected in this role. As a member of this team, you will get exposure to post-Silicon bring-up, functional validation of power management features, power/performance analysis, and tuning, all the way to production support of Ampere’s server SoC platforms. The role is not just about being a point-of-contact in the lab, but also includes contributing to developing and harnessing new ideas, challenging conventions, and providing creative solutions for current and future Ampere product post-silicon validation.
What the Team wants you to know
The Processor and System Power Management Lab Technician is expected to be more than just test execution or data collection worker. Knowledge and experience with hardware platforms, hardware testing methodologies, and some understanding of debug techniques is required.
What you'll do
- Support post-silicon validation of system power and processor power management validation activities including both HW and SW
- Use existing infrastructure for running tests and metrics collection - work with engineers to execute test plans and preform experiments, collect data, and present to engineers.
- Acquire and maintain parts, systems, and equipment, working with platform delivery and test engineering teams.
- Bringup and maintain validation systems and lab, working with other domain leads.
- Use logic analyzers, debuggers, oscilloscopes, and thermal units in a post silicon environment.
What you'll bring
- Experience with post-silicon testing in a hardware lab environment and/or system test.
- Experience working with debuggers (Lauterbach/OCD).
- Good understanding of different types of PCIe devices/speeds, DDR, and their use in hardware systems.
- Team player with ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Server CPU & SoC testing
- Knowledge of SoC package, board components and their usage
Education & Prior Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in technical areas specified above
Pay and Benefits
Ampere offers a competitive total rewards package that includes base pay, bonus, stock, and comprehensive benefits. The full base pay range for this role is between $88,000 and $146,000.
