Director of IT

Salary: $145 – 165K (DOE)

Company is a national leader in well-known brand name with multiple lines of business in beauty, health and wellness companies.

We are seeking a skilled IT Program Manager responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, control, and completion of technology projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, standards, architecture, and overall IT commitments. This includes partnering with a wide variety of business units and multiple well known Brands.

This position has a Director title as you will work closely with the CIO and executive management.

As the IT Program Manager you'll manage Corporate and Brand level prioritization, scope, cost and schedule through robust project planning, communication, and resource management.

As a Project Manager working with an outsourced application development team and in-house tech team in Southern California, you will be vital part of the IT organization, creating a bridge between different business units and delivery teams. This role will be responsible for facilitating integration, change and risk management for all projects within scope, including oversite of applications development.

Technical background in software development and Web applications is required. All systems are Web based with a complex Point of Sale (POS) integration.

Overall Objectives/Responsibilities, goals, expectations:

  • Drive the strategic alignment with technology leadership, cross functional teams and business process owners to ensure various needs and opportunities are identified, prioritized, validated and communicated through a multi-year strategic roadmap.
  • Facilitate organizational change, manage dependencies, and address any project or organizational level issues and risks that affect project delivery.
  • Lead project cross functional teams. Instill a mindset of collaboration and continuous process improvement.
  • Research and synthesize market requirements, market and technology trends along with a competitive analysis that feeds the product strategy & road maps.
  • Lead IT Steering Committee meetings with key stakeholders reviewing the strategic roadmap and any changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
  • Ensure that business process strategies are reflected in the projects portfolio and manage expectations on what can be delivered in line with available resources.
  • Work with CTO on delivering solution justifications and business cases including investment to support project prioritization and budget planning.
  • Drive execution of projects and the overall Technology roadmap by being accountable for delivery metrics including management of budgets, schedule, resources, and benefits realization.
  • Understanding and documenting of technology initiatives pre and post implementation.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation gaining commitment from key leadership to ensure schedules can be maintained.
  • Establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, to ensure business requirements are clearly defined and project delivery plans are aligned to meet expectations.
  • Manage strong relationships across IT leadership and third party development/delivery teams and ensure regular communications related to project delivery.
  • Ensure Methods, Processes and Tools are standardized and implemented across the organization. Manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs and ensure key stakeholders (both internal and external) are aware of agreed upon and committed changes.
  • Manage the relationship with the internal customers and all key stakeholders across the Brands.
  • All software development is outsourced. Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors to ensure quality delivery or outsourced components.
  • Promote effective teamwork and spirit of partnership.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of project management tools and processes used with the delivery lifecycle.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • 8 – 10 years project management experience with PMI/PMP and the ability to manage Agile, Waterfall and hybrid Project methodologies.
  • Technical background in software development and Web applications is required.
  • Experience in IT Project Management for Retail and/or E-Commerce
  • Strong background and experience managing business applications implementation.
  • 3-5 years exposure to industry leading business applications (Salon/Spa/Beauty and Wellness a plus).
  • Track record and technical background with hands-on experience in software development, infrastructure and web technologies.
  • Experience in the practical application of project management theory, techniques, and tools.
  • Must possess experience in risk identification, management, and mitigation, and change management procedures.
  • The Director will be involved with high priority and strategic initiatives that require after hours support.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, often competing project workloads and activities.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT Related field.
