Summary
Amprius is looking for an EHS Engineer to join our growing team in Fremont, CA. This position will work closely with all levels of management and hourly employees to ensure environmental, safety, and health work standards and methodologies are communicated and targeted goals are achieved through individual as well as team-based objectives and strategies. The EHS Engineer will provide a consistent presence within the facilities they oversee and is expected to identify areas of improvement and present solutions to the operational teams that provide sustainable value for the growth of the EHS system.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and standardize EHS work processes, standards, and training materials.
- Conduct Risk Assessments and establish Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Standard Work Procedure (SWP).
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks in the workplace. Report the unsatisfactory findings to appropriate personnel for correction.
- Providing expertise regarding environmental, safety, and health issues and applicable regulations
- Subject matter expert providing analytical and technical guidance related to OSHA and EPA Standards, process safety, and lock-out tag out.
- Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
- Develop and train employees on EHS programs such as Chemical Inventory and Storage, Warehouse Safety, IIPP, EAP, Lab Safety and Management, Lockout Tag Out, PPE, and more.
- The ideal candidate will have strong, hands-on experience with chemical management safety, electrical safety, confined space, NFPA and OSHA requirements, event learning, root cause analysis and action management.
- Develop emergency response plans and conduct drills to prepare for potential emergencies
- Interface with Local, State and Federal regulatory agencies on complex permitting, reporting and related issues.
- Advising and assisting managers in implementing, managing and auditing within the framework of an innovative Health and Safety Management System in a manufacturing and construction setting
- Partnering with HR, Quality, Operations Management to assist with completion of goals and objectives as well as training verification
- Documentation and record keeping of inspections, audit results, incident reports, injury and illness investigations, employee complaints. Maintain material safety data sheets
- Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices to continually improve EHS programs
- 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Extensive knowledge of Local, State, and Federal regulations and policies.
- Hands-on knowledge of equipment safety and machine guarding
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required
- 2 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
- Nationally recognized Safety and Health Certifications preferred (ASP, CSP, CIH) desirable.
Physical Demands & Work Location:
- Fremont, CA: This is an on-site job. Reliable commute or planning to relocate before starting work is required.

- May be required to stand, sit, squat, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, reach, lift, balance, push, and pull.
- Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, respirator and safety shoes.
- Comprehensive compensation package includes base salary generous RSUs. Salary range for this role is $80,000 - $125,000. Base salary will be determined based on knowledge, experience, and education.
