Position Title: Director of Surgical Services

Job Summary:
The Director of Surgical Services will oversee the operations of the Surgical Services department, including the operating rooms, recovery areas, and related surgical functions. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, efficient surgical procedures, and compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. The Director will collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to enhance surgical services, optimize patient outcomes, and achieve departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the surgical services team, fostering a collaborative environment that supports teamwork, professional growth, and high standards of care.
- Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations of the surgical services department, including staffing, scheduling, budgeting, inventory control, and equipment maintenance. Ensure efficient utilization of resources to meet patient care needs.
- Quality Improvement: Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, care quality, and surgical outcomes. Monitor performance metrics and drive improvements based on data analysis and feedback.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all surgical services are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures. Maintain readiness for accreditation and regulatory inspections.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate surgical activities and improve patient care. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among the surgical team.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to achieve financial goals.
- Patient Care: Oversee patient care delivery in the surgical services department, ensuring that patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care. Address patient and family concerns as needed.
- Staff Development: Recruit, train, and retain a highly skilled surgical services team. Provide ongoing education and professional development opportunities to enhance staff competencies and performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or a related healthcare field required; Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Current RN license in the state of Missouri.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in surgical services, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven experience in managing surgical operations, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and surgical best practices.
