What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduler position at AMSURG?
Poway Surgery center is looking for talented and experienced Surgery Scheduler for full time hours. We are open Monday - Friday. No holidays or weekends!
Scheduling specialist is responsible for evaluation and management of a full range of patient scheduling duties. Coordinates scheduling and insurance verification functions for multispecialty outpatient services in accordance with various employer, federal, state and workers' compensation policies and procedures.
Must provide excellent customer service, and demonstrate the ability to communicate with insurance companies and patients in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.
Responsibilities:
- Schedules all surgical and pain-management procedures
- Interacting with patients, payers and providers to gather information necessary for accurate registration including assigning of appropriate Medical Record Number, scheduling, referral/authorization, case cost.
- Accurately scheduling and re-scheduling patient procedures. Successful scheduling includes, but not limited to, exhibiting proficiency in the scheduling procedures, scheduling and confirming appointments according to practice guidelines, entering appropriate insurance, verifying authorizations, performing Key User duties with minimal errors.
- Performs a high volume of patient, insurance and surgeon office calls
- Regularly displaying a proactive approach to customer service by listening to the patient, taking ownership of solutions and being able to accurately identify the need to involve leadership in order to resolve concerns.
- Has good knowledge and understanding of the surgery schedule and the format utilized by the center
- Coordinates and schedules surgeries with surgeon’s office, pre-op, and administrator
- Ensures that the needed documentation is obtained from the surgeon’s office
- Ensures that all patients receive needed information prior to surgery
- Interacts with patients, physicians and other staff both within the ASC and at the Physician practice
- Works effectively with the Physician practice to manage the surgery schedule
- Provides accurate, timely and responsive information to patients, Physicians and other stake holders
- Coordinates processes and route all paperwork as required to meet physician and facility requirements
Required Qualifications:
• Must have knowledge of medical terminology and ICD 10.
• 1 or more years' of prior surgery scheduling experience
- BLS for healthcare provider
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Orthopedics, ENT and pain management outpatient services
- Experience with SIS (surgisource) software
- Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma, G.E.D. • Additional classes and training in surgery scheduling
Must pass a background check and drug screen.
