Overview
AmTrust is looking for an Employee Relations Consultant to join our HR team. This role will be supporting the Northern region and is responsible for employee relations including coaching managers on difficult conversations, conducting investigations, and partnering with managers on performance management.
Responsibilities
- Assist managers with drafting corrective action documents and communicating corrective actions to employees
- Assist employee relations team with investigations relating to allegations of harassment and discrimination
- Draft safety policies and forms and lead safety committees in compliance with state laws
- Act as liaison between the Employee Relations team and the HR support services team including responding to questions regarding policy clarifications, verifying referral bonus policy compliance, and assisting with potentially fraudulent unemployment claims
- Prepare and submit Bureau of Labor Statistic Reports, Survey of Occupational Injuries & Illness and assist the team with preparing ad hoc data reports
- Act as workers’ Compensation claims point of contact including preparing 1st report of injury
- Process I9 renewals and visa updates
- Schedule ergo evaluation requests, communicate evaluation results to employees
- Assist with COVID processes including conducting COVID contact tracing and employees in quarantine
- Complete and send state required termination forms to employees
- Sending leave of absence, worker’s compensation and termination emails that contain state compliant information.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices in the organization.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in human resources, preferably in employee relations
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred
- Demonstrated interest in employee relations with an understanding of HR functions and best practices.
- Familiar with discrimination and harassment laws and wage and hour laws
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
- Willing and able to adjust to multiple tasks, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change.
- Advanced Microsoft skills including the ability to do VLookUps in Excel
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to operate/advise in the “gray” areas. Adept understanding of client motivations and business pain points.
- Experience working in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to make decisions guided by policies, practices, procedures and business plan.
- Ability to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of multiple factors.
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills necessary to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams.
