Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is seeking a Technical Editor, Staff to support an independent NASA Agency-wide organization residing at the NASA Langley Research Center; the NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC) in Hampton, VA.

Job Description:


Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is seeking a Technical Editor, Staff to support an independent NASA Agency-wide organization residing at the NASA Langley Research Center; the NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC). This position focuses on engineering excellence for all 10 NASA Centers. The NESC mission is to perform value-added independent testing, analysis, and assessments of NASA's high-risk projects to ensure safety and mission success. The organization engages proactively to help NASA and private sectors to avoid future problems/anomalies. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and dynamic individual who is passionate about writing, can work in a team environment, and can multi-task a wide variety of projects. This position is located onsite at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare written draft and final technical project team documents
  • Distribute draft documents to team members and designated peer reviewers for technical review and feedback
  • Coordinate with the team project manager to meet documentation requirements
  • Review technical documents for clarity, flow, organization, consistency, and to ensure proper usage of formatting, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization in accordance with approved standards
  • Submit various technical documents for approval, and upon approval, distribute to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Contact the NASA LaRC Export Administration Oce to review and determine restrictions on nal project team documents (e.g., International Trac in Arms Regulation (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulation (EAR)).
  • Create revisions and maintain configuration control of technical project team documents
  • Initiate or facilitate teleconference with technical teams using WebExTM or Microsoft Teams application sessions as required.

Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of Office365, including SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to write detailed documents related to research, science, and engineering projects
  • Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Able to work with all levels.
  • Must have the ability to balance multiple priorities and respond/produce quality work efficiently with short deadline actions in a fast-paced environment.
    Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • The work environment requires the ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client
  • Degree in technical writing, communications, English, or a related field is preferred
  • 5 years of technical writing experience preferred

Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident due to facility requirements.
