What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Anaplan?
Anaplan is seeking an Assistant Controller to be a leader in our Accounting team. The Assistant Controller will oversee Anaplan’s global accounting operations, including corporate accounting, sales incentives, international accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. You will have primary responsibility over all aspects of the financial close process and technical accounting matters in a fast-growing environment. Your Impact
- Mentor, coach, and develop a high performing team in an inclusive environment.
- Lead all aspects of financial close; maintain a comprehensive close checklist, manage the close calendar, identify inefficiencies and implement solutions to improve close process, and drive accountability.
- Lead the design, implementation and documentation of scalable processes and controls for existing business operations and new technical matters.
- Work to identify any accounting issues and highlight relevant situations that the Company can review with its external auditors.
- Develop and maintain communication channels and processes with other business teams to ensure business activities are communicated timely to the accounting team.
- Act as a key liaison to external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Assist with other projects and duties as appropriate such as new go-to-market arrangements and technology partnerships
- Direct team efforts to perform technical accounting on research and the preparation of accounting memos and business process documentation on various accounting areas, including cloud computing arrangements, sales incentives under ASC 606, and leasing under ASC 842.
Your Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- 9 years of experience in relevant accounting with leading technology companies and 5 years of progressive management experience in a high-growth software company.
- CPA or equivalent preferred
- Excellent technical accounting and financial and analytical abilities. Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and procedures including experience with GAAP technical accounting research and new accounting standard implementation.
- Strong analytical skills, efficient and self-motivated with the ability to recommend, develop, document and implement process improvements across the organization
