Coordinate with Production to prioritize and assign routine inspections, & tests of incoming and finished goods, to the inspection team.
Provide guidance, technical assistance, and training to Quality Inspectors.
Monitor Quality Department established metrics and take appropriate action when targets are not met.
Work with the Quality Manager to review and improve Quality Inspection processes and internal process handoffs.
Review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) prior to customer submittal.
Make recommendations for changes in specification of material and parts based on inspection results.
Establish best Inspection methods to be shared with the Quality team at our Baja facility and External Providers.
Interpret planning documents, tool design, engineering drawings, specifications, and quality inspection procedures to develop clear, complete, and precise records of inspection.
Interpret quality documentation to standards and purchase orders (material certifications, test reports, chemical and process certifications) to ensure all requirements have been met internally and externally.
Provide Material Review Board (MRB) technical support for documented non-conformances in accordance with established procedures.
Familiarity with aerospace plating and processing standards, such as anodizing, chem.-film, passivation, chrome plating, silver plating, etc.
Knowledge/Skills:
Proficiency in CMM operation is a plus and preferred but not required.
Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) - ANSI 14.5Y.
Ability to proficiently handle and use inspection equipment and other instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gage, pin gages, optical comparator, plug/thread gages, radius gages, hardness tester, and operate Hexagon CMM (PC DMIS).
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 preferred.
Proficient in trigonometry and shop math.
Proven ability to lead in a team environment.
Good communication, reading, and computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Fluency in Spanish is beneficial but not required.
Years of Experience required: 5-10 years mechanical inspection experience.
Education Requirements: Associates Science Degree or Equivalent, required.
Working Conditions: Production/Shop floor environment. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to work extended hours (overtime) as required to support production.
