The Associate Application Administrator works to ensure the technical performance and characteristics of package application environments, including network, database, and application server performance. They commonly perform activities similar to Associate System Administrators, Associate Network Administrators, and Associate Database Administrators (in the context of the package application environment). This individual interacts with the Application Administrator to analyze proposed changes to the application technical configuration settings to optimize overall performance.
Associate Application administrators are responsible for managing procedures to the promotion of all configuration and development objects from development environments, to the test, stage and production environments. They are responsible for ensuring that all objects promoted are consistent with respect to one another and are executable. In addition, Associate Application Administrators develop procedures to ensure that each build, as well as earlier environments, may be recreated, when necessary, to maintain previous versions of the product.
- Assist in optimizing the technical performance characteristics of the package application environment, including network, database, and application server performance
- Interacts with Applications Administrator to analyze proposed changes to the package application technical configuration settings to optimize overall performance
- Ensure that promotion processes are defined, documented and executed to provide consistency and ensure operating stability of environment
- Follows procedures to ensure that each build as well as earlier environments may be recreated, when necessary, to maintain previous versions of the product
- Utilize understanding of the package application environment to troubleshoot and develop corrective actions to address system performance issues or outages
- Maintain library of documentation for application environment and software installation media
- Assist in resolution of hardware/software platform problems in complex, layered, client/server-based applications
- Periodically interacts with software and hardware vendors with respect to troubleshooting and tuning activities
DIRECTION OF OTHERS: No direct reports or staff responsibilities with respect to providing career development and training opportunities and conducting performance evaluations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience is acceptable
- Zero to two years of experience in the technical support of the package application network, database, and application server performance
- Experience in technical infrastructure and operations support environment is desirable
- Ability to handle package application system administration
- Demonstrated experience working well with customers of varying levels of technical
- Capable of performing tasks in changing situations and, under stress, optimizing availability of system services to users
- Ability to absorb and implement new technologies and procedures
