What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Specialist - Adult Program position at Anderson Center for Autism?

The Behavior Specialist is an integral component to the expansion and development of the Behavior Services Department and Life Long Learning Adult Program at Anderson Center for Autism. This position is responsible for providing direct person-centered behavior services in the Adult Program and the development of quality, evidence-based individual programming and staff training. The Behavior Specialist also collaborates across all departments to promote resolution of behavior-related issues and creates, implements, and evaluates programmatic development to support participants.

Responsibilities:

  • Has substantial knowledge of autism spectrum and related disorders.
  • Develops, trains, and oversees quality behavioral and skills-based support and intervention plans.
  • Maintains appropriate data collection systems that include data analysis and data-based decision-making.
  • Assists in the daily operations of behavior service areas as a means to provide program development and expansion of services.
  • Trains and mentors program staff on evidence-based practices and the principles of applied behavior analysis.
  • Implements participant behavioral and skills assessment.
  • Utilizes efficient and effective communication strategies to promote an open exchange of relevant information in supporting those we serve.
  • Develops participant and program specific reports and summaries.
  • Participates in agency training initiatives.
  • Provides direction and leadership within the Behavior Services Department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Behavioral Services Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Master's in Psychology or Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the human services field is preferred.
  • Experience in ABA preferred.
