The Role
The Growth Go-To-Market team is an important part of our effort to accelerate time-to-market across the a16z portfolio. We take a uniquely long-term view towards working with our founders and companies, while relentlessly focusing on the impact we can deliver. The Growth team within GTM has a laser focus on 3 pillars:
- Advise our portfolio companies on user growth: Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Monetization
- Develop and manage long term relationships with subject matter experts, vendors and talent
- Define what best-in-class looks like by gathering industry trends, insight and benchmarks
You will be responsible for advising portfolio companies’ GTM efforts, with strategic priority on scaled user acquisition across performance acquisition channels. Engagements with portfolios range from executive advisory to direct growth program audits and detailed workshops with Growth Marketing teams. Successful candidates will be dynamic, empathetic, intellectually honest and willing to be hands-on with teams from seed to late stage companies.

- Be a thought leader, publish content on repeated topics from our portfolio companies, frameworks and discussion across online channels
- Work collaboratively across a16z general partners, deal team, marketing, and go to market network
Minimum Qualifications
- 6 years experience in user acquisition, growth marketing, performance marketing, demand generation, or related field at a fast growing consumer startup through multiple investment stages
- 3 years experience in a hands-on channel management role in either Paid Search, Paid Social, Mobile UA, Affiliate, Media, OOH or equivalent
- Paid / Performance marketing experience that spans multiple consumer growth models: Subscription, Marketplace, Freemium, Mobile App, Games, SaaS, etc
- Experience managing budgets across different sizes: experimental (e.g., $100k) to scaled (e.g., millions)
- Experience managing international campaigns in either EMEA or LATAM preferred
- Experience managing the creative process, content across media channels, and setting optimal production cadence
- Experience building, and/or directing the building, of performance dashboards tracking ROAS, CPA, and or CAC:LTV across relevant segments
- Deep knowledge across advertising and growth tech platforms such as Adobe, Rockerbox, Branch, Appsflyer, Google Analytics, DSPs, and general Attribution platforms etc
- Perspectives on different approaches to attribution and media mix modeling
- Collaborative track record partnering with Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, Product Management, Business Operations and Analytics teams
- Proficiency with both marketing and product analytics, ranging from out of box tools to writing SQL or equivalent query languages
- Outstanding written, verbal and presentation skills
