Job Title: Instructional Coach - High School
Supervisor: Principal
FLSA: Exempt
Term of Employment: 220 days
Job Summary:
Assist teachers, students, and other staff in the school in coordinating and improving the instructional planning of instruction, delivering instruction, assessing instruction, and analyzing data in order to improve academic success.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher for an accredited college or university
- Valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate with endorsement in a core subject area (Secondary / High School) / Also prefer administrative certification
- Minimum of five years successful secondary/high school teaching experience
- Outstanding communication skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as district administration may find appropriate and acceptable
Essential Duties:
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Serves on the school leadership team
- Works directly with teachers to support instruction in all core areas to improve best practices by modeling lessons and strategies, coaching teachers with pre and post sessions, helping to diagnose student and teacher needs, assisting with creation of common assessments, and determining their outcomes and next steps
- Works with colleagues in an atmosphere of trust and team building
- Facilitates professional development
- Monitors lesson plans to ensure that all phases of the planning process are followed
- Interacts with the whole school community to build positive relationships
- Assists with the School/District Renewal Plan
- Accepts the role of school improvement facilitator
- Encourages teachers to use proven methods and materials where appropriate for improving instruction for all students
- Helps plan and implement new programs and procedures
- Supports the administration and teachers by performing related duties as required
Other Duties:
Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
