POSITION SUMMARY:

The Practice Management Staff Accountant, under general supervision, is responsible for full cycle accounting, payroll and business management services for one or more designated client groups of anesthesiologists for which ABC provides financial and management services.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build & Maintain Professional Relationships: A high level of communication skills (both verbal and written) is required to maintain successful ongoing positive relationships in connection with the client groups including but not limited to:
  • Individual physicians employed by the client groups
  • Insurance brokers
  • Pension administrators
  • Client CPA
  • Internal clients (ABC)
  • Technical Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and/or processing of general accounting, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, and cash functions.
  • Maintain payables and payroll transaction documentation files.
  • Preparation of physician and staff payroll through outsourced payroll processor and distribution of checks.
  • Review of payroll reports and filings by payroll processor.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and daily cash balances.
  • Provide necessary information to outside accounting firm that prepares quarterly and yearly reports and tax filings.
  • Interface with Benefits Specialists with respect to benefit plans including profit sharing, health and disability insurances.
  • Prepare budgets, review and analyze financial statements and general ledger.
  • Prepare cash forecasts, financial forecasts and variance analysis.
  • Prepare financial reports and financial presentations for clients.
  • Prepare statistical analysis as necessary.
  • Proactively identify and resolve accounting and client issues.
  • Provide backup and support for the other members of the Department.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

Capabilities

Education / Experience: Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices. Also requires one (1) to three (3) plus years of relevant professional experience in a general accounting position, preferably with background in full-cycle processing and reconciliations.

Analytical Skills: Able to gather relevant data from appropriate sources; identify all relevant factors or restrictions; apply logical reasoning to determine relationship of variables; develop results-oriented conclusions; test assumptions, observe results, and incorporate revisions or corrections.

Communication Skills: College-level verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals both internal and external of varying levels of authority, including ability to elicit cooperation with direct authority. Also requires effective listening abilities, detail note taking skills; ability to draft high-level correspondence.

Organization Skills: Able to prioritize and organize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Must have the capacity to balance both short- and long-term issues effectively and handle many simultaneous and often conflicting and changing priorities.

Detail Oriented: Able to proofread typed materials for contextual, grammatical, typographical and spelling errors. Pays close attention to details.

Problem Solving Skills: Logically think through and solve problems involving several variables. Remain objective in gathering information and investigating issues.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of QuickBooks or other similar accounting software a plus. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word required. Adapt and comfortable learning new accounting specific software quickly.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
