Roles and Responsibilities:

The Angus Reid Group is looking for a  Programmer Intern to join the team on a contracts basis. You will be key in ensuring the ergonomic and aesthetic formatting of online questions and validating any questionnaires provided by internal clients in order to ensure a good understanding of the research objectives, before beginning to program.

 

Responsibilities

  • Program, QA, and script surveys using Angus Reid Forum’s software platforms and technology with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
  • Provide advance scripting and technical expertise to support our business operations that enable timelines to be met for high client satisfaction.
  • Proactively identify and solve survey programming related problems to ensure accurate and timely delivery of data which will improve workflow, efficiency, and communication within the organization.
  • Create scripting templates and propose creative solutions to new programming and workflow requirements.
  • Actively play a role in the technical implementation, integration, process, and support of platforms, software, and other technology solutions for the Angus Reid Forum.
  • Deliver and support implementation of new technological solutions and process enhancements where necessary that improve business operations, to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Participate in creating new products and services where technology is concerned.
  • Implement requested changes to existing surveys.
  • Document survey design processes.
  • Test surveys and related tools.
  • Fix bugs in existing surveys.
  • Assist in gathering, collating, and sharing business requirements.
  • Triage and create bug reports based on user input.
  • Test the solutions to ensure they match the requirements.
  • Readily work on joint initiatives and a variety of projects throughout the organization.

 

Requirements

  • University Degree in a relevant discipline (data science, research methods, business, computer science, etc.).Or, College Diploma (or equivalent) in any IT-related discipline. Understanding of Research Methodology, such as Collection methods (CAWI, CAPI, CATI), sampling methods, survey best practice.
  • Possesses strong understanding of market research.
  • Strong analytical skills and logic skills.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming preferred (C , Java).
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining a keen eye for detail.
  • Knowledge and experience in these computer skills: JavaScript / jQuery - a demonstrated knowledge of data structures (i.e Arrays), understanding of conditions (i.e. if, else if, else), iterations (i.e. loops) and selectors.
  • HTML / CSS - demonstrated ability to use tables, frames, DIV’s, etc. effectively for placement of content, and content layout consistently across all modern browsers.
  • Knowledge and experience working with SQL Databases.
