ROLE SUMMARY:
We are seeking a barley breeder to join our Global Barley Research team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing breeding programs to improve yield, malting & brewing quality, and disease resistance of barley varieties for a vertically integrated Anheuser-Busch supply chain.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a team to design and conduct experiments to evaluate barley genotypes for various traits such as yield, disease resistance, and quality.
- Utilize molecular markers and other genetic tools to accelerate breeding progress.
- Identify and select superior barley lines for further development and commercialization.
- Collaborate with other researchers and breeders to improve barley varieties.
- Maintain accurate records and data analysis of breeding activities.
- Participate in field trials and other on-farm evaluations of barley varieties.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. degree in Plant Breeding, Genetics, or a related field.
- Experience in applied breeding and genetics.
- Strong knowledge of plant breeding methodologies, statistical analysis, and molecular biology.
- Proficient in the use of software and databases for data analysis and management.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Domestic and international travel required.
