Job Responsibilities:
The Support Teacher is an integral part of the success of daily operations at our Parkland Hospital campus childcare center. The role requires a self-starter, who cheerfully and competently handles a series of important duties that keep our facility running smoothly. This role is flexible, with a variety of daily tasks surrounding assisting both the classroom and front desk areas. The core focus on a day-to-day basis is to rotate from classroom to classroom to support our Lead and Assistant Teachers, as needed. The ideal candidate for this position should possess an innate passion for children and families, enjoy collaborating across multiple departments, and possess a desire to actively help solve problems.
Job Requirements:
All applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Meet the background check requirements.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Possess a basic knowledge of child development, in addition to a minimum of 1 year of work experience with young children.
Strong verbal communication, with an emphasis on frequent teaming and collaboration
Provide nurturing, outgoing, positive, patient, team oriented, and has a strong passion to teach young children not by words alone, but through positive role modeling.
Ability to organize, coordinate, and direct a variety of activities.
Ability to work in a team effectively and take direction in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
A degree and/or certificate in early childhood education, child development or a related field is preferred.
Be physically able to meet the needs of the children.
Be able to lift a child (up to 30 lbs.) when needed.
Be able to get on the child?s level (which includes getting on and off the floor comfortably).
Be able to actively hear the children.
Be able to see the children to monitor the classroom, playground, and transition activities.
Have an adequate use and understanding of the English language.
Possess good judgment and decision-making skills.
