Join the Anoka County Parks Department and experience an opportunity like no other! A Seasonal Gate Attendant serves as the first point of contact for park users, playing a pivotal role while serving in a public relations capacity. Gate Attendants perform cash handling of vehicle entrance fees, communicate important policies to park users and gather information for reporting purposes.
This seasonal, non-exempt, position is located at the various park locations throughout Anoka County.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Seasonal Gate Attendant.
- Portray a positive and professional image of the Parks Department while performing duties.
- Effectively sell permits and communicate park/facility information to customers.
- Complete routine daily reports and accounting procedures in a legible and accurate fashion.
- Use basic mathematical functions without use of calculator.
- Communicate via various technology (phone/computer/radio device).
- Must be neatly groomed and willing to wear and maintain a uniform.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
- Successfully pass criminal historybackground check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous cash handling experience.
- Previous customer service experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
- Cash handling, deposit procedures and record keeping.
- Organization, problem solving and communication.
- Take direction and complete assigned job duties independently as well as on a team.
- Customer service, computer, and radio knowledge.
Work Environment
95% of the work performed will be in a gate house or outdoors; 5% of the work performed will be in an office. Seasonal Gate Attendants are required to work outdoors in all weather conditions during the months of May through October.
GRADE LEVEL
Salary
$13.00 - $15.50 per hour.

Hours
Seasonal; up to 40 hours per pay week.
Varied hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, for25-40 hours per week. May include extended hours on weekends and holidays as required.
Selection Process
The examination/selection process for this classification will consist of a review of your training and experience from the application materials submitted. The most qualified candidates will be invited for an oral exam and/or interview.
