Description: What you'll be doing
Another Source’s client, Stanford University, is recruiting an Outreach and Communications Zero Waste Manager s to join their Office of Sustainability team within the Land, Buildings, and Real Estate (LBRE) division. The primary site for this role is in Redwood City, CA. This is a hybrid position that will require the flexibility to work at both the Redwood City and Main Campus locations. As the Zero Waste Outreach and Communications Manager, you will lead and develop materials and partnerships to drive engagement with the university’s goal of Zero Waste by 2030 through the Office of Sustainability’s zero waste programs and campaigns as well as support overall engagement in Sustainable Stanford.
In collaboration with the Zero Waste Systems Manager, Sustainability Outreach & Engagement Manager, Behavior Change Program Manager, and the Zero Waste Outreach and Communication Specialist, you will plan and implement outreach strategies and behavior change programs and be responsible for creating dynamic supporting collateral in a variety of content forms and channels (web, video, print, social media).
What you will do in this role:
25% Cross Campus Implementation of Zero Waste System
35% Design and Implement Zero Waste Campaign & Training Materials
15% Manage Communication Efforts for Zero Waste by 2030 Initiative
10% Analyze Data to Inform Communication Strategy
10% Provide Support to Students
5% Other Duties/Projects as Assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and relevant experience.
- Five years of relevant experience in outreach, communications, and/or zero waste engagement is strongly preferred.
- Interest in and academic background in sustainability and zero waste field.
- Demonstrated curiosity and the ability to bring projects to fruition.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and groups across campus.
- Community engagement experience.
- Able to plan and execute projects on a timeline.
- Highly organized; able to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
- Meticulous attention to detail and proofreading skills.
- Strong writing and graphic experience.
- Strong MS Office suite/Google Drive skills.
- Solid knowledge of the current media/social media landscape, including web and video development, preferred.
- Demonstrated multimedia experience.
- Have good instincts for design and understand how to analyze and report on data.
- Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud and familiarity with Canva.
- Proven success in social media distribution and conducting data analytics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Zero Waste certifications such as CRRA/SWANA or TRUE is preferred.
- Video design experience is a plus.
- Skilled in HTML/CSS, Drupal is a plus.
- Experience with Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro a plus.
- Familiarity with higher education organizational and operational structures, ability to objectively think through impact of initiatives in an institutional setting, a plus.
