What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Anova?
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Operations Manager for Anova New Jersey (ANJ) will lead and coordinate the activities of the production department, overseeing all aspects of operational safety, quality, delivery and cost to meet customer delivery requirements and corporate financial objectives.
Job Requirements and Responsibilities:
- Directly oversee and coordinate personnel and activities within the production area through a culture of excellence and focus on SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost).
- Motivate, train and provide support and guidance to production staff.
- Coordinate work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize productivity.
- Support the short and long-term planning and implementation of production requirements including cell capacity, available staffing, and supply chain constraints.
- Prepare/revise operational schedules and direct manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specification and delivery requirements.
- Develop and document workflows or Standard Operational Procedures (SOP’S) and direct workers to ensure compliance with standards; safety practices, efficiency achievement, adherence to SOP’s, and Standard Work practices.
- Ensure all safety and health standards are met to keep the organization accident-free.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement actions to increase productivity, improve lead times and reduce costs. Implement lean and visual manufacturing ideas and concepts with staff and report results.
- Set productivity goals for team and measure KPI’s.
- Monitor and actively reduce scrap costs and other expense items affecting department budget.
- Proactively work to identify issues that may affect production and communicate regularly with upper management and key constituents regarding solutions.
- Assist subordinates in solving work problems associated with operations and shop processes. Drive solutions to address root cause.
- Manage and drive appropriate inventory levels and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education / Training / Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, supply chain, or operations
Experience:
- 7 years relevant experience in manufacturing in an electromechanical production environment
- Experience with Lean and Visual Manufacturing and Kaizen activities preferred.
Required Skill Sets (e.g. computer skills, communication skills, math, etc.):
- Proficiency with ERP systems required, Epicor preferred
- Effective supervisory skills to lead, guide, and motivate employees.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Effective presentation skills
- Ability to effectively interface and communicate with executive level management
- Proven record in training employees on production and safety
- Ability to coach and motivate employees
- Ability to effectively deal with and manage ambiguity and conflicting priorities
- Ability to read and comprehend complicated drawings and specifications
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands (e.g., lifting, travel, etc.)
- Occasional travel to suppliers or contract manufacturers
- Work in normal office and light manufacturing production environment
