Summary
An individual in this classification will work with the Infant/Toddler Liaison and other members of the Special Education Department to provide service coordination and instruction to children with developmental delays from birth through age 4 and their families by performing the following duties:
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned by the Special Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent. Primary duties include the following:
- Conducts home visits and serves as the primary contact for the child and family following referral through initial intake, and assisting in the development of the initial Individualized Family Service Plan. (IFSP)
- Provides ongoing service coordination for families including ensuring that early intervention services are being implemented in accordance with the FISP, scheduling and documenting monthly contacts with families, scheduling and conducting IFSP reviews, communicating with providers and identifying resources for families.
- Adheres to federal/state/local procedures for recordkeeping, Medical Assistance documentation, timelines and procedural safeguards.
- Maintains a schedule for IFSP reviews in a timely manner and maintains early intervention records in file and database.
- Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with parents, teachers, service providers, and community agencies.
- Participates in state and local professional development.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four year college or university majoring in a field of Special Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid State Teaching Certificate. Certification in Special Education with and Early Childhood Endorsement.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of educators, administrators, students, parents, and Board members and State/Federal officials.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw ad interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Other Skills and Abilities
Three or more years’ experience working with children with developmental disabilities and families of diverse backgrounds. Must have knowledge of early intervention services and the accompanying computer software programs.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to travel to homes in county and to out- of- town business and professional organizational meetings.
