POSITION FUNCTION
- Directs manufacturing operations through a team of functional managers and front-line supervisors. Ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of the workforce, materials, and machines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plans and implements operating policies, procedures, and budgets.
- Manages policy deployment in Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and plant performance measures.
- Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, development, and accountability.
- Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
- Analyze product line operations (daily, weekly, monthly) and initiate timely corrective actions to ensure efficient production flow and achievement of product line goals
- Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.
- Develop, maintain and update capacity, capital, and resource (workforce, equipment, tools) planning inputs that ensure product line execution capability
- Ensures compliance with company needs for capital investments and improvement projects.
- Manages compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Establishes challenging targets for improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee relations.
- P&L knowledge and working understanding of cause/effect relationship
- Managing direct reports to ensure product line(s) schedules are achieved. This includes ensuring that the product line(s) are properly staffed.
- Champion safety and 5S 1initiatives to drive an improved culture for product line(s)
- Develop, maintain, and update capacity, capital, and resource (workforce, equipment, tools) planning inputs that ensure product line execution capability
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION
- 7 to 10 years of manufacturing management experience preferably in a CNC machining environment. Government contract experience preferred
- A demonstrated leadership ability to motivate people and get results through others.
- Strong knowledge of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques
- Experience in forecasting and planning with a proven ability to think ahead and strategize over a 3 to 6-month time span.
- Ability to compare performance to company goals and standards and establish targets for improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee relations.
- Documented ability to manage and organize multiple priorities.
- Experience in leading a cross-functional team or previous supervisory experience
- Possess technical skills in materials and inventory management, production scheduling, and preventive maintenance.
- Experience in Material Planning and knowledge of ERP systems
- Strong business acumen – understands the big picture and possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience developing proposal inputs
- Ability to develop and lead high-performance teams and be a strong team player.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Preferences: Technical degree (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering), MBA
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business materials and documents. Ability to author reports, business correspondence, and document work activities. Ability to effectively present information to, and respond to questions from, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, ratio, interest, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
