Primary Function
Leads and coordinates activities of workers engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, and in fabricating metal parts and tools. Coordinates activities related to Facilities and Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS). He/she coordinates the work of department, training, and support of efforts to achieve departmental goals.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, coordinate and supervise maintenance work for the hourly maintenance team. Ensure that all material requirements for the team to main equipment are procured.
- Manage the PM system and ensure the quality of maintenance records.
- Ensure that spare parts are ordered, stored and available when required for use.
- Coordinate and communicate tasks to workers for the timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
- Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Coordinate and communicate tasks to workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, installing and testing of industrial machinery, where necessary.
- Assist in maintaining up-to-date files that list maintenance performed, required equipment and facility.
- Develop maintenance work priorities, studies production schedules, and estimate time requirements for job assignment completion.
- Report all safety and Company violations to the Maintenance Manager and/or Human Resources.
- Aide in the review of serious and non-serious accidents, injuries, or illnesses and notify Human Resources.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assign duties.
- Maintain and approve employee time sheet reports.
- Work with outside vendors as required to accomplish tasks.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Facility Manager.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in related field
- 5 years of maintenance supervisory/leadership experience
- Project management experience
- LEAN, root cause analysis, and/or problem-solving skills
- Facility /insurance risk review experience
- Budgeting and expense planning and administration
- Knowledge and training in Environmental, Health, and Safety aspects of a manufacturing plant
- Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives
- Observes safety and security procedures;
- Manages competing demand in the work environment
- Training in provincial environmental responsibilities
