What are the responsibilities and job description for the Air Safety Institute Intern position at AOPA?
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development, review, and editing of safety education materials including videos, publications, accident analysis reports, ASI’s online flight instructor refresher course (eFIRC), social media content, and more.
- Assist with the collection, review, and analysis of accident and incident information.
- Conducting comparative analyses for select safety initiatives to determine feasibility and market demand.
- Shadowing ASI staff at internal meetings to gain exposure to other AOPA departments and initiatives.
- Shadow ASI leadership at local industry events/meetings (GAJSC, FAA, NTSB, etc.).
Desired Education, Skills & Experience:
- Private pilot certificate; instrument rating or higher preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Familiar with modern social media platforms
- Eager to learn
- Ability to research and write about general aviation safety topics
- Courteous and professional
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions
