The Landman II for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Land organization at the company’s Houston office reporting to the Eric Johnson. This position is responsible for assisting in the management of the company’s position regarding land (mineral, leasehold and surface) matters, including maintaining critical obligations and dates, negotiating with partners, and coordinating with internal engineers, geoscientists, and regulatory personnel, for all prospects/special projects.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Check records in county and parish courthouses/abstract plants; Acquire oil and gas leases from fee owners and governmental agencies; Cure title for leases and the drilling of wells; Working with legal counsel, Area Land Manager and Region Land Manager to approve title for drilling and division order purposes; Assist division order analysts in curing title for producing wells; Facilitate permits as required which would involve becoming familiar with state and federal regulations and procedures; Analyze oil and gas leases and Exploration and Production contracts; Preparing locations to drill (coordination staking, regulatory, etc.); Provide support for acquisition/participation/divestment opportunities within assigned geographical area; Research files for litigation, ownership interest, obligations, etc.; Work with cross functional team members in developing drilling prospects; Negotiate and interpret all types of land agreements including leases, joint operating agreements, farm-out agreements, farm-in agreements, seismic options, confidentiality agreements and other land-related documents under the guidance of a senior landman or above; Communicate with and involve key stakeholders to ensure continued alignment; Interact with other disciplines in a team environment to accomplish company goals; and Cultivate and maintain industry contacts to insure company’s exposure to outside-generated opportunities. Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience: BS/BA in Energy Commerce, Energy Management, Business Administration or equivalent; 5 years onshore land experience; and 3 years in-house experience required. Competencies
