Overview:

The Paralegal assists with legal and corporate governance matters for APCO Holdings and all companies within its corporate structure (the "Company") including maintaining corporate record books, documentation, and information. From day 1, this role will rapidly develop skills in contract review and statutory interpretation. The person in this role will help maintain on-going regulatory compliance initiatives for the Company's vehicle service contracts, guaranteed asset protection (GAP) waivers and related products and services ("Company Products") across a 50-state footprint. The Paralegal will aid legal and compliance team members as they meet a complex variety of corporate and regulatory compliance obligations and interactions. This role requires a high degree of professionalism in all interactions and communications with team members, all levels of management and departments across the Company, external vendors, insurers, and regulators. The Paralegal will, from time to time, become privy to information that is privileged, confidential and/or proprietary; accordingly, maintaining strict confidentiality of such documents and information is critical to this role.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contracts: reviewing and revising contracts for the company following all corporate guidelines.
  • Administratively support the Director of Regulatory Affairs in handling a broad range of corporate and compliance matters including general corporate issues, document and contract drafting, and high-quality research.
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of information regarding the Company's on-going legal and compliance requests.
  • Provide administrative support to the Company's Chief Legal Officer, including support that will include being aware of, and maintaining confidential matters pertaining to the Company.
  • Help prepare and distribute notifications regarding corporate changes to applicable entities.
  • Reports on possible impact of new or impending developments on Company Products, processes, or procedures.
  • Respond to regulatory agency and lender or underwriter objections in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to internal departments regarding legal and compliance related queries.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all internal parties as well as external third parties.
  • Cross-train on other areas of responsibility within the Legal and Compliance team and assist team members as necessary.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Three years of experience as a paralegal focusing on contract review and drafting in an office environment preferred.
  • Experience with or knowledge of automobile dealership F&I process and/or products preferred, but not required.
  • Must produce high quality work products.
  • Ability to interpret laws and regulations is essential.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle numerous projects at once, prioritize work and meet crucial internal and external deadlines while implementing creative solutions.
  • Must be organized and have a very high level of attention to detail.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, critical thinking, and time management skills.
  • Must have strong initiative and excellent follow-through skills.
  • Must have the highest ethical standards and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of privileged, confidential and/or proprietary Company information.
  • Must have high proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Salary : $50,000 - $61,000
