Software Engineer, Application Administration and Support

The Software Engineer, Application Administration and Support provides execution of methods and practices to continuously improve application support, application administration, and availability management of the APEI application portfolio. She/he may lead Information Technology (IT) and business user resources for prompt escalation, recovery, and resolutions of applications/systems incidents/defect/bugs/data issues across a dynamic 24x7 enterprise. This candidate will analyze and support enhancement and service requirements that process business workflows, procedures, administration, and automation improvements to existing and new application/systems.
The Software Engineer, Application Administration and Support will be self-motivated, and adept in performing software engineering responsibilities in a highly demanding and fast-paced environment. She/he will maintain the health of our application/platform production systems, reactively and proactively, as well as managing priorities with stakeholders to deliver business continuity and support.
Responsibilities:
- Experience with leading and assisting team members to troubleshoot, administer, and resolves complex application/system issues to meet business priorities.
- Collaborates with key business users involved to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements including forms of data input, methods to summarize data, and formats for reports.
- Assists with functional & technical specifications and Quality Assurance as needed to support Software Engineering Domains, such as CMS, ERP, SIS, LMS, Integration, etc.
- Reviews application/platform capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to support requested change/modification.
- Studies existing business processes of application/platform(s) to evaluate effectiveness and makes suggestions to improve production workflow as required.
- May prepare workflows, diagrams, support documentation to specify standard operating procedures to be performed and maintained.
- Participate in validating the application changes, upgrade, and other infrastructure changes to production environment.
- Submits requests and assists with upgrades and improvements for application/system performance.
- Assists Software Engineers in resolution of incidents/problems related to application/systems.
- Prepares and communicates time estimates for work items.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Assists and may led installation, development, testing, configuration, administration, and modifications of applications and systems.
- Will develop clear understanding of the various upstream/downstream dependencies, end to end business process & data flow of the applications supported
- Develops and maintains system documentation to ensure operational efficiency.
- Responsible for updating required documentation & knowledgebase, maintain integrity of information, and timely update of tickets and applicable processes.
- Actively participates in the IT Change Management process.
- Work with Application Support team in a 24/7 on-call rotation environment.

Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience supporting custom and COTS applications/systems both on-premise and Cloud such as Salesforce, BrightSpace, Great Plains, Boomi, Onbase, Azure RPA, .NET custom, Anthology, and MetaStorm.
- Supports potential areas where existing methods, procedures, policies require change, or where new ones need to be developed.
- Solid knowledge of .NET technologies and ADO (Azure DevOps) and SDLC practices
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Extreme Responsiveness with ability to triage under pressure while maintaining a clear sense of urgency.
- Familiarity with source control and source control practices (Git, Subversion, TFVC).

Education:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
