Apex Clean Energy is currently seeking a Remote Operations Control Center (ROCC) Operator to monitor the operation of wind, solar, and battery assets. The ROCC Operator will play a key role in the safe operations of our renewable energy portfolio. The ROCC Operator is responsible for performance monitoring and remote diagnostics including inverter and turbine resets as well as regulatory actions to include voltage control changes and curtailment actions. As a part of the ROCC Operations team, the Operator will monitor and control assets via computer and peripheral electronic data processing equipment to analyze data and remotely operate wind turbine generators, solar assets, and battery assets.
The successful candidate will have experience in remote operations, good record of working rotating/swing shifts, and demonstrated ability to work in high-performing, high-communication teams. This position will be located at the Apex Clean Energy Remote Operations Control Center located in Charlottesville, VA.
Primary Responsibilities
· The Operations Center is a 24/7 operation. This is a (4-4) rotating shift assignment. Nights, Weekends, and Holiday work is required.
· Continuously monitor the operation of facilities to ensure compliance with safe operations, electrical system procedures, regulatory requirements, power sales requirements, dispatch instructions, contractual obligations, and business unit objectives
· Work closely with on-site operations to maximize project availability and production
· Build and maintain relationships with primary stakeholders and market participants, including power purchasers, scheduling entities, system operators and facility technicians to optimize performance, maximizing profits.
· Schedule production with power purchasers, power marketers and system operators.
· Start, stop and dispatch wind and solar energy facilities to meet planned schedule.
· Perform diagnostic analysis of operating data to assess operating performance and identify abnormal performance conditions
· Effectively communicate abnormal conditions to management or stakeholders
· PJM, NERC and other certifications will be required and must be completed within the required time.
To succeed as a ROCC Operator at Apex Clean Energy, you’ll need to excel within the following criteria:
· High school diploma or equivalent (minimum)
· Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, operations, or a related field is preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
· Proficiency with SCADA systems (preferred)
· PJM Generation Dispatcher certification (preferred)
· Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
· Exemplary standards of: honor, ethics, safety, quality, communication and productivity
· Strong passion for renewable energy
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· High attention to detail
· Ability to work proactively and productively without supervision.
· Ability and willingness to respond to plant operational needs on a 24/7 basis including travel and time commitment as needed
· Must be willing to work from our headquarters in Charlottesville, V
Work Environment:
Works primarily traditional office hours in an indoor office environment. Flexible work hours allowed when work duties and business operations permit.
When travelling, may work in an outdoor environment, which may be noisy and fast paced and subject to inclement weather.
