POSITION DESCRIPTION
As part of our Procurement Team, the Jr. Buyer / Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for the efficient and effective planning, sourcing, and administration of materials and services as assigned, analyzing, and determining the best commercial situation, and for the development of supplier relations that support the overall objectives of the company.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the purchasing duties for assigned commodities such that quality, cost, and delivery objectives of the operation are successfully supported
- Review/process requisitions and create/place purchase orders using the Microsoft Dynamic 365 ERP system, coordinate the requirements, quantities, and delivery issues with suppliers and other process managers
- Create timelines for production on critical parts and communicate to necessary parties
- Investigate and recommend opportunities to reduce product costs, inventory, improve the supplier base or improve specific processes.
- Work as a team member and participate in joint meetings with Production Planning, Quality, and Engineering, Sales, Operations, and other processes as needed
- Assist Engineering and Product Development during new product development for selection of supplier and determining cost and lead time. Provide price and availability information.
- Stay abreast of market developments that influence supply or price conditions and report major developments with potential impact to the organization
- Meet with vendors/suppliers to discuss current products, potential new products, and on-time delivery and quality (including onsite visits)
- Negotiate pricing and lead time with existing and new suppliers and monitor supplier performance
- Place orders for non-inventory, non-production related goods and services
- Provide and maintain accurate and current monthly status reports
- Contribute to the development of an efficient supply chain process utilizing proven web/based technology
- Discuss/resolve any issues relating to defects in purchased materials or parts and determine the possible root cause and the course of action required with the supplier
- Other tasks and responsibilities based on business needs
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors’ Degree in Business Related field or a combination of Associates Degree and experience
- 3-5 years of experience buying in the manufacturing and electronic related industries
- Experience with and knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamic 365 is a plus)
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Analytically inclined with good mechanical/electrical aptitude
- Sound working knowledge of purchasing principles and inventory control procedures
- Verbal and written communication skills that are concise, detailed, and easily understood
- Excellent negotiation skills to ensure price, quality, and delivery requirements are obtained
- Attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment that requires excellent interpersonal and planning skills
- Minimal travel is required
Work location: Willing to consider remote work for candidates outside the Cincinnati area. Local employees work together in the office Tuesday through Thursday and enjoy flexibility to work remote Monday and Friday.
