Technical Support Specialist

This position is responsible for providing technical support to the non-profit organization. You will be working with desktops, and peripheral devices, keeping up-to-date documentation and inventory, and assisting with projects as assigned by management.

Job Overview :

  • Onsite position based in Jackson, MS with occasional travel required using a personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursed.

  • Great opportunity to interact with a wide variety of hardware and software while networking with various IT professionals in the Jackson community

Major Job Responsibilities :

  • Provide technical support to end users and manage IT systems including computers, networks, phones, copiers, cell phones, pagers, and security.
  • Prioritize and track requests with an IT support request system, recommend system upgrades, purchase hardware and software, and work with vendors to resolve technical issues.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining IT systems, and support special projects assigned by IT management.

Candidates with the following preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply :

Education :

An associate degree or equivalent trade school certification is preferred, but 3 years of professional IT experience will be considered in place of a degree

Experience :

Experience providing IT support in a corporate or professional setting

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • PC maintenance and repair
  • Software installation and maintenance
  • Network (LAN, WAN, and VPN) installation and maintenance
  • Windows operating systems
  • Internet and e-mail support
  • Active Directory
  • Microsoft Server 2008 and above
  • Excellent communication
