Job Description:
Location is Jefferson, AR - Onsite at least one day a week and as needed with a 24 hour turn around for onsite customer needs
Linux administrator supporting researchers in a scientific laboratory environment and working with research scientists to understand operating system interface requirements including ensuring hardware and software compatibility with instruments. Support Linux workstations (Ubuntu & CentOS) on site, including installing Linux Workstations, installing Software, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, configure workstations in Active Directory via the Centrify process and patch management. In addition, support patching of 32 computing cluster nodes (RHEL, CentOS, OEL, Ubuntu, Rocky Linux).
Required
• Extensive knowledge of Linux operating systems including but not limited to CentOS, RHEL and Ubuntu.
• Experience installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting server hardware, software and Linux operating systems including Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise and CentOS
• Skill in installing, configuring, and supporting desktops, scientific workstations and laptops running Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise and CentOS Linux operating systems.
• Experience in a Linux environment in areas such as user account creation, backup/restore, and providing general Linux support to system users
Preferred
• Experience supporting scientific researchers in a laboratory environment including installing and configuring Linux operating systems to support high performance computing clusters
• Knowledge of IT security programs and experience ensuring the proper safeguard of sensitive data, which is contained on the supported system
• Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with limited to no direction
