Skills Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of equipment materials, methods and procedures used in Tree, Landscape and Grounds maintenance; Skilled in operating required tools and equipment. Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes accurately in using specialized machinery and to operate motor vehicles. Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments and/or directions from supervisors. Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions. Requires the ability to read a variety of work orders, equipment instructions, maps, safety warnings, etc. Must be able to speak with clarity, voice control and confidence and to articulate information to others. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Skills Preferred
General tree care, planting, trimming, structural pruning and landscape maintenance work; Proper use and operating pf a variety of power and manual equipment/tools as needed to maintain City trees and landscape along the public right-of-way.
Experience Required
Tree care and landscape maintenance along public right-of-way. Experience in the operation and safe use of tree and landscape equipment/tools required to complete assigned tasks; Establishing safe work zones and meeting compliance with all applicable safety requirements (e.g. Traffic control including placement of cones and warning signs for Maintenance of Traffic (MOT); Able to properly operate motorized vehicles and equipment, including pickup trucks, utility trucks, skid loader, chainsaws, stump grinder, brush chipper, etc. Proper and routine use of hand and landscape tools such as; shovels, loppers, rakes, forks, picks, telephone, two-way radio and other equipment may be required to make independent judgement on task(s) to be performed effectively. Work independently and efficiently in the absence of supervision.

Education & Experience Requirements: High School diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) years in Tree care, landscape, grounds maintenance, FNGLA Certification - Horticultural Professional (FCHP) and work teams. Valid State of Florida Class "B" CDL with 'N' endorsement (incumbent must obtain within six months of employment) and must maintain a satisfactory driving record throughout employment history.
