The Opportunity at Apixio:
Apixio is looking for an Interaction Designer to join the team. Candidates should possess strong creative, technical and problem-solving skills and experience with front-end web development methodologies. Ideal candidates have a solid foundation in interaction design, visual design, and component library management. Bonus: experience with user research, information architecture, and wireframing.
This is a critical role for Apixio as we transform our product portfolio from a "services" based delivery model to an "application" based delivery model. The person who fills this role will have the opportunity to shape delightful customer experiences for enterprise healthcare customers, which ultimately translates into better care delivery, lower costs, and streamlined processes. This will be an exciting, impactful, and challenging role for the right candidate.
We will be asking you to:
- Interpret wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps, screen flows, and verbal direction into high fidelity mockups/prototypes
- Create/assist with UI & Visual Design
- Leverage existing design library components for new product/feature development
- Consult with stakeholders to understand their processes, goals, and needs
- Close collaboration with other members of product design, product management, and engineering
- Conduct usability testing
- Contribute to the redesign of workflows to provide a coherent and consistent experience across the product portfolio
- Analyze user feedback, activity, and iterate to enhance the user experience
- Be comfortable working with cross-functional groups
- Champion and follow prevalent design practices
- Participate in design reviews
To be effective in this role you will need:
- Experience communicating designs to engineering and following up throughout the development process
- Experience developing and implementing consistent interaction patterns
- To partner across teams at every stage to deliver the highest level of quality
- Experience with Figma or similar software
- Experience shipping successful software products
- Leadership skills in communicating design rational within a user-centered design process
- User empathy
- An understanding of design accessibility standards
- Solid analytic and modern design pattern understanding
- Experience with Material Design is a plus
We are assuming that you have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- A portfolio that showcases your design ethos
- 3 years of industry experience as a UX/UI Designer building web applications in a team environment
- A strong interest in best practices for UX and demonstrable design and aesthetic sensibilities
