Here at APMEX, we're looking for a Director of Manufacturing who will guide and shape the direction of our production efforts, while creating the potential for growth, both in terms of manufacturing and culture. With continuous plans for investment and expansions at our manufacturing facility, this position will offer the utmost in visibility and career growth potential, working closely with Senior Executives throughout the company to accomplish goals that are integral to APMEX's long-term success. APMEX has seen incredible growth over these past several years and this Director of Manufacturing will be integral in building on that success and furthering our potential.
What you'll do as the Director of Manufacturing...
- Lead an ISO certified manufacturing facility that is tasked with minting a number of exclusive products; this facility produces millions of ounces of precious metals per year with a team that will approach 40 individuals
- Oversee value added services mainly to include enhanced packaging and labeling for select products; some of these processes will be performed in other facilities outside of the mint
- Manufacturing is undergoing a multi-million dollar investment, which will be led by this role and the COO
- Act as point person to IT as it relates to the building and maintenance of various systems to run the operation including MRP, Labor Productivity, etc.
- Implement robotics and other processes as necessary to help improve both efficiency and throughput of the operation
- Drive culture of the operations with emphasis on lean, 5S, employee morale, employee development, recruitment, and safety
- Develop reporting to help measure overall performance of the operation
- Key member of a cross functional team that has been challenged to develop products that provide a competitive advantage to APMEX; team consists of members from merchandising, marketing, project management, and senior leadership
Qualifications
What you'll bring to the team...
- 10 years of overall work experience with 5 years leading a team
- Must have experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally focused on development and implementation of continuous improvement strategies, yielding improvements on the throughput, quality, and productivity
- Have specific manufacturing experience in metal fabrication
- Working knowledge of 6 Sigma, Lean, Process Documentation, ISO Certification and how to make quality principles a part of the daily process
- Previous experience implementing automation and robotics with an ROI mentality
- Managed a team of 30 or more employees that is focused on continuous improvement, retention and development of talent, and an overall positive, team first culture
- Experience with capital improvement initiatives to include specifications, sourcing, process development, and implementation
- Strong technical knowledge (WMS, TMS, LMS, MRP, API’s) with examples of implementing systems to improve overall operations
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to direct as well as perform in-depth analysis
- Performed annual budgeting processes within a Manufacturing environment
- Ability to work hands on one minute and be strategic the next
