Summary:

The Pharmacy Manager (PIC) will oversee and provide direction related to quality, clinical and compliance for Apotheco Pharmacy operations initiatives in compliance with state and federal laws. The designated Pharmacist-in-Charge must have excellent customer service skills and be detail-oriented. Working with the management team to maintain and increase efficiency, quality, and customer service levels in the daily operation, as well as execute on department goals. Continue performing essential pharmacist functions of a staff pharmacist.

Training Requirements:

The individual will need to complete 3 management/supervisor training courses satisfactorily within the first 6 months of the position.

Education/Experience:

Have earned a BS or Pharm D degree from an accredited pharmacy school. Have had at least 5 years retail experience or equivalent.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

They include the following, other duties may be assigned;

  1. Details physicians pertaining to the Apotheco model. Educate physicians pertaining to the dermatological products that Apotheco provides and associated services.
  2. Manage staff of techs, patient care coordinators, and customer service representatives.
  3. Hires staff and additional pharmacists when applicable.
  4. Adheres to all Apotheco policies.
  5. Adheres to all applicable laws pertaining to the practice of pharmacy.
  6. Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations designated by the Board of Pharmacy.
  7. Maintains records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions.
  8. Responsible for all cash transactions and depositing of all transactions.
  9. Adheres to Apotheco accounting principles.
  10. Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.
  11. Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.
  12. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  13. Knowledge of medication and dosage measurements.
  14. Proficient at pharmacy software systems and electronic ordering of all medications.
  15. Pharmacist in-Charge responsible for ensuring overall compliance with state and federal statutes.                                                                                                                                          
  16. Responsible for adherence in the state environment to all federal regulations involving prescription medication fulfillment for retail pharmacies.
  17. Facilitate and monitor compliance with Prescription Drug Monitoring programs.
  18. Oversee pharmacy team operations compliance (e.g. transferring prescriptions, handling inbound/outbound physician calls, efficient drug utilization management, safe dispensing, providing accurate and timely medication dispensing, & ensuring adherence and compliance with all state and federal regulations).
  19. Ensure quality and productivity standards are met and/or exceeded on a consistent basis.
  20. Lead in communicating management of Pharmacy policy and procedures relevant to pharmacy compliance and quality standards;
    1. Facilitate implementation of new programs and enhancements.
    2. Maintain professional licensure, competence, knowledge, and skills necessary to effectively
    3. Complete responsibilities, enhance job knowledge, and have the ability to actively pursue learning and self-development for yourself and your staff.
    4. Follows all policies and procedures relating to job responsibilities to meet corporate objectives.
    5. CSOS ordering capability for the site. Understanding how to order, file, and audit ordering C2 prescriptions electronically.
    6. Ensure Refrigeration logs are filled out and monitored daily. You are responsible for filing those logs electronically and in a file cabinet.
    7. PIC will be responsible for Alarm at site. PIC will have to be one of the people assigned to the alarm system or as assigned.
    8. Recall of drugs: Responsible for returning drugs to the wholesaler or direct vendor, both legend and C2. Maintaining paperwork as required and contacting members when necessary.
    9. Expired drugs: This department is responsible for determining procedures, along with the fulfillment manager, regarding disposal and credits of expired drugs.
    10. Inventory: aid in the process of inventory validation as needed.
    11. Variances with inventory validate along with the manager of inventory and finance any variances.
    12. C2—All C2 prescriptions must be counted by a technician and then recounted by a pharmacist. C2 counts one section per week or delegate to another pharmacist and record in the controlled substance log.
    13. Other activities as determined by management.

Qualifications:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft products.

Each employee is responsible for the secure and appropriate handling of Apotheco information, information received by customers, other companies, and/or external parties.
