Direct Care Staff

We are actively hiring for Direct Care Staff to care for children placed in our care! We are currently hiring for weekend shift. The Appalachian Children's Home is a residential treatment facility for children ages 11-18 for both boys and girls. Apply online at www.achky.org or visit our office for a paper application.

Supervisor’s Title: Shift Supervisor

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week determined by assigned shift. Weekend shift is Saturday and Sunday 6am-10pm and one 8 hour shift on a weekday (typically 2pm-10pm). Days of the week will be determined upon hired.

Summary of the Job: A direct care staff is a full-time employee who is responsible for the daily care and nurturing/living experiences of a specified group of children.

Essential Duties:

1. Provide care for children 24 hours a day while on duty.

2. Keep children orderly and hygienically clean.

3. Administer discipline in accordance with regulations.

4. Properly administer medication as directed.

5. Must be able to certify annually in SCM and complete monthly updates. (Note: to be employed on a shift you must be physically capable of performing SCM at any moment with our residents, should an incident occur).

Required Education/Qualifications/Licenses:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver’s License preferred.
• Experience working with and caring for children preferred.
• Physically capable of performing safe crisis management restraints.
• Strong communication & documentation skills.
• Ability to perform well in high pressure situations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
