The purpose of this Office Assistant position is to support the mission of the Office of Research and Innovation. The position will primarily support the Office of Sponsored Programs.
The Office of Research & Innovation consists of Grants Resources & Services (http://grs.appstate.edu/), Sponsored Programs (http://sp.appstate.edu/), Research Design & Analysis, (https://rda.appstate.edu/), and Research Protections (https://researchprotections.appstate.edu/). We provide support for the research, creative, and scholarly endeavors of Appalachian faculty, staff, and students. The Office of Research & Innovation also collaborates with Contracts & Grants Accounting (https://controller.appstate.edu/departments/contracts-grants-accounting) on the fiscal management of awarded projects.
We are located in the John Thomas Building, suite 382 (next to the Convocation Center).
As part of the Office of Research & Innovation, Sponsored Programs provides the authorized institutional signature for submissions to and awards from external sponsors, negotiates terms and conditions of all externally funded projects, service, or research agreements, and more (https://sp.appstate.edu/about).
As the Office Assistant, your duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist with the collection of reporting deliverables for all Sponsored Projects
- Schedule New Award Meetings with Faculty, staff, and associated departments
- Aid in subrecipient monitoring and conduct pre-screening visual compliance checks for outgoing Subawards
- Assist with workshop preparation, creating and updating reference materials, filing, shredding documents, copying/scanning, preparing materials for meetings, basic research of relevant topics as needed, delivering documents or materials across campus, and other similar tasks as needed.
- Assisting with specific programs within the office using similar duties above. This position may provide similar services for other departments in the Office of Research & Innovation if workload permits.
- This is a busy office and the ideal candidate would be flexible and willing to help where needed.
An ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with all faculty and staff, however, we would like to emphasize that the temporary employee will be trained on all required duties and responsibilities.
