Apple’s Audio and Media Technologies (AMT) team is looking for a creative, self motivated and dedicated software engineer to join the Connected Media CarPlay team. This team builds the foundations of CarPlay, that powers the customer experience of iOS devices in the Car, and focuses on future directions.
The Audio and Media Technologies (AMT) team provides the media and graphics foundation across all of Apple's innovative products including iPhone, iPad, Mac, AppleTV, and operating systems. Combining ground breaking software techniques with next-generation hardware, IMG takes the media experience to the next level.

Description
As a CarPlay engineer, you will be responsible for prototyping breakthrough ideas, developing features, contributing to systems design, analyzing performance in the foundations of CarPlay technology. We are looking for a strong engineering lead to join our team and help build the future of CarPlay, with a focus on automotive integration.
To be successful in this role, you need to be versatile and able to thrive in a fast paced environment. You must have strong technical and programming skills, and a background in any of the core technology areas that make CarPlay possible. This includes media playback frameworks, audio and video streaming, wireless networking. Experience with automotive integration is a plus
Education & Experience
BS / MS in Computer Science / Computer Engineering or equivalent experience required
Additional Requirements
- Nice to have but not required:
- Ability to lead projects under time constraints to achieve meaningful results for our customers and cross-functional teams.
- Working knowledge of media playback frameworks, media codecs, audio and/or video streaming, formats.
- Experience with basic networking technologies and protocols (including WiFi, TCP, UDP, HTTP, RTP).
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $161,000 and $278,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
