Apple’s Finance Decision Support team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated data scientist. You will provide a key function in shaping the success of Apple’s current and future products. As members of the Finance Decision Support team, we work with various business and engineering teams to understand current and future business initiatives. We need to be persistent and flexible in extracting data from various sources, cleaning and curating this data, and then clearly and concisely communicating insights.
Key Qualifications
- Strong R programmer, proficient in package development
- Experience in building interactive dashboards (e.g. Shiny, Dash) and reports (e.g. RMarkdown)
- Strong data wrangling skills in R (tidyverse, data.table), also comfortable with SQL
- Excellent data visualization and storytelling skills (ggplot2, plotly, etc)
- Ability to extract insights from datasets using basic statistical methods
- Experience in collaborative code development and version control using git
- Ability to prototype ideas quickly and create reproducible workflows
- Experience working in a cross-functional team
- Creative and curious thinker. Ability to translate business problems into data requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining technical results to a non-technical audience
- Well-organized and self-motivated. Comfortable advancing multiple priorities at once on tight schedules
Description
In this role, you will be responsible for developing descriptive data products that provide decision support for many business units and initiatives across Apple. A successful data scientist will be skilled in taking a business problem and translating it into a data science solution.
Education & Experience
A Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant work experience

- Knowledge of JavaScript, D3, CSS, HTML, etc.
- Experience accessing various endpoints (e.g. REST APIs) and databases (e.g. Postgres, Spark)
- Experience with containerization (e.g. Docker) and streamlining models into production (e.g. AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD)
- Experience with scheduling systems (e.g. Github Actions, Airflow, Jenkins)
- Experience with shell scripting (e.g. bash), and other programming languages such as python or Julia
