Description
As a Materials Engineer | Glass & Ceramics, you will work with a team of multi-functional partners and external vendors to develop, test, and validate new material solutions for a wide range of Apple products. Your ability to deep dive into material fundamentals, creatively solve challenging problems, and collaborate well with interdisciplinary teams is key to delivering the best material solutions and products to our customers. This position will require occasional domestic or international travel (<10>
- BS/MS/PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics
- 3 years experience in relevant industry
- Strong materials fundamentals in structure-properties-performance relationship, including mechanics of materials
- Knowledge of different materials characterization and analysis methods (i.e. SEM, EDS, XRD, Raman, mechanical tests, etc)
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical knowledge of glass, glass-ceramics, structural ceramics or composite systems
- Applied knowledge/experience with brittle material processing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use statistical tools and techniques
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive multi projects, setting priorities and deliver products
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, providing technical expertise and updates on project milestones
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $204,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
