As part of our Camera Technologies group, you’ll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You’ll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You’ll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we’ll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras.
As part of the Module Integrity and Test group, you’ll help design and support the tools that allow Apple products to undergo fast and reliable testing as they get made! The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for the design, development, and innovation of camera hardware, including visible and IR illumination technologies that enhance the imaging and depth sensing capabilities of Apple products! We are seeking a test SW engineer for development and support of the Module Test Communication Protocol server.
This role requires the ability to assess project specifics and engineer the required software that needs to be in place to make things happen. The DRI will need to be able to ask around and understand new areas quickly and take responsibility of high-stakes project objectives amid high ambiguity. Ability to work and lead discussions with a wide variety of vendors, teams, and subject areas is vital. The ideal applicant will have direct experience in a majority of the areas listed below with knowledge of the others. The primary responsibility of the person in this job is the ownership of factory software for controlling the tester and flow through MTCP.
Key Qualifications
- Strong background in software design and design for test
- Experience with embedded software development, deployment, and debugging
- Working with multi-machine systems, software profiling, and high reliability software.
- Proven track record of collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams (software, electrical, mechanical)
- Proficiency in Go, Python, C, C , Python, Matlab
- Experience deriving requirements and collaboration schedules for project integration and readiness.
- Experience in setting up basic labs for internal development, proof of concept, and performance testing.
- Experience developing software for high-volume manufacturing of consumer electronics is a plus
- Experience in factory software development and deployment is a plus
- Experience working with optics, laser products, and camera products is a plus.
Description
- Design and develop software for tester flow control and device specific calibration features for use on testers.
- Develop tester hardware and software specifications to help work and manage vendors.
- Use analytical methods (FMEA, fuzz testing) to track use cases and develop test frameworks to improve SW reliability.
- Validate test and calibration flow in order to meet safety and project requirements.
- Use continuous integration and testing techniques to help resolve software bugs and reliability issues.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams in order to better understand, develop, and solve actual issues related to SW / HW design and deployment on various projects.
- Support cross-department SW projects by developing drivers and ETL logic for different components.
Education & Experience
BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900.00 and $256,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
