What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Tech position at APPLIED MATERIALS?

Job Description

Customer Engineer Manager (M3)

Are you energized by the idea of leading a team that's trained to help transform ideas into reality? In this role, you'll be the face of Applied Materials to customers who use our semiconductor equipment to build some of today's most advanced products, from virtual reality headsets to supercomputers. And you'll oversee a skilled team of engineers united around the same important goals.

This mid-level manager role gives you a chance to shine as a people leader and technical expert with solid knowledge of the Applied Materials business, tools and technologies, internal operations, customer objectives and more. As you guide daily operations, resolve problems and keep projects on time and on budget, you'll feel you're making an impact in a dynamic, inclusive, results-driven environment.

You will:
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, address technical inquiries, visit customers regularly, conduct customer trainings and meetings, and complete documentation and reports
  • Coach and direct your team of customer engineers (CEs), overseeing career and salary planning, daily schedules and workloads, corrective actions and performance reviews, and awards and mentor programs
  • Manage other managers, including technical program managers, as needed
  • Initiate, lead and monitor all operational excellence activities
  • Be the prime interface with the Product Divisions (tech support, training, spares, reliability); work with Service and equipment Sales to identify customer-specific solutions
  • Take responsibility for account planning and cost efficiency, working with the District Sales Engineer
  • Oversee system installation, including planning, reporting and execution, pre-facility meeting, start-up meeting and process support identification
  • Serve as the point of contact for all service-related issues in your area; communicate with internal stakeholders; and provide support to Sales and Technical Support teams

You'll need:
  • A bachelor's degree
  • 4-7 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry
  • A strong understanding of Applied Materials global Standards of Business Conduct
  • Strong leadership skills to supervise day-to-day work and coach and develop employees
  • The ability to use tact and diplomacy to convey information and handle sensitive issues

Nice to have:
  • An MBA degree

What to expect:
  • You may travel 10% of the time
  • Be prepared to wear protective equipment and observe all safety standards
  • You may work on rotation and in shifts
  • You'll need a valid driver's license and passport

Your benefits:

At Applied Materials, we care about the wellbeing of our people, and we strive to support you in ways that extend beyond your work environment. As an employee, you'll qualify for a competitive and comprehensive total rewards and benefits package, from day one.

Your benefits package will be customized for your country of residence and may include: top-tier medical, dental and vision plans; disability insurance; life insurance; retirement; paid time off; health and wellness programs; career development and mentoring; sustainability and social responsibility programs; and much more.

Additionally, all employees can take advantage of our company-sponsored global programs, including our Employee Assistance Program, Travel Accident/Medical Benefits Abroad, the company's employee stock purchase program and a subscription to wellbeing tools.
