As a media collections manager on our team, you are the backbone of our strategic initiatives within the DTRIAC program and will be responsible for managing the maintenance of the DTRIAC media collection critical to the success of our projects as well as national security.
Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. is seeking a knowledge management expert with a background in Defense Threat Reduction Information Analysis Center (DTRIAC) Core Support in media collections management for our Algorithms, Modeling, and Assessments Division (AMA). The successful candidate will support a variety of operational functions for supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency countering weapons of mass destruction. The individual will need in-depth knowledge of DTRIAC and its nuclear Scientific and Technical Information (STI) collection program out of Kirtland AFB/Albuquerque, NM.
Applicants for this position will support a variety of requirements for the DTRIAC customer. Successful candidates will be expected to exercise considerable originality to define problems, visualize approaches, and coordinate technical guidance for managing the maintenance and application of the DTRIAC collection. The applicant shall be experienced in establishing strong working relationships with a team of direct reports, program managers as well as organizational leadership.
The knowledge management manager must be able to supervise support staff and track employee performance. Assure that staff is trained/cross-trained in various areas of cataloging, digital imaging, film transfer, and technical inquiry requests. Perform research using classified and open-source resources to create comprehensive and accurate descriptions for the photo, film, video, and digital image collection. This position is responsible for cataloging and leading a team of cataloguers to successfully determine bibliography, keywords, and other metadata information of various forms of multimedia in an archived collection to be entered into digital cataloging software. Maintenance of archival films and photograph collection using the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) preservation standards. Provide services for the operations of DTRIAC and the CENTER, to preserve and expand the knowledge base; support the safety, integrity, and security of the CENTER. Continuously improve the efficiencies and effectiveness of DTRIAC internal and external processes and workflows Interact with technical and subject matter experts, researching and responding to technical inquiries; Coordinate transfers of various orphan collections consisting of several different forms of media into the DTRIAC Collection. Managing multiple tasks that is running concurrently to preserve and digitize all of-a-kind historical films of which many are exhibiting signs of deterioration and ensure that all milestones and deliverables are met.
