POSITION OVERVIEW
Under direction of the Building Principal and Instructional Coach Coordinator, an Appoquinimink School District instructional coach partners with teachers to help them improve teaching and learning, focusing on student success. Instructional coaches assist teachers in analyzing current reality, including data-driven feedback. They employ research-driven strategies and the ASD Principles of Instruction to help teachers set goals that support students and are linked to district and school improvement goals.They strategically identify and promote teaching strategies that guide student learning to reach Appoquinimink School District goals. Instructional coaches also provide services that are rooted in relational trust and effective communication until the goals are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities:
- Partnership for Improvement: Collaborate closely with teachers to analyze current reality, including data-driven feedback, to identify areas of strength and growth. Together, set goals that align with district and school improvement goals, emphasizing student success as the ultimate objective.
- Research-Driven Strategies: Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and the ASD Principles of Instruction to support teachers in implementing effective teaching practices. Provide resources, guidance, and modeling to ensure the application of research-driven strategies in the classroom.
- Goal-Setting Support: Work closely with teachers to establish clear and measurable goals that directly support student achievement and are in line with district and school improvement goals. Regularly monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed to facilitate goal attainment.
- Teaching Strategy Promotion: Identify and strategically promote teaching strategies that align with Appoquinimink School District goals. Offer professional learning opportunities, resources, and support to teachers, ensuring the dissemination of best practices throughout the district.
- Relational Trust and Effective Communication: Build and maintain relationships based on trust and open communication with teachers and other stakeholders. Create a supportive and collaborative environment that fosters professional growth and a commitment to student success.
- Ongoing Support: Provide continuous support to teachers throughout the implementation of instructional strategies and attainment of goals. Offer guidance, feedback, and additional resources as necessary to facilitate progress and ensure success.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Below are the qualifications for this position:
- Minimum 5 years experience teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students and teachers.
- Knowledge of Delaware State Content Standards, Assessment & Accountability.
- Master’s degree in the field of Education.
- Deep understanding of instructional strategies, curriculum development, and assessment practices
- Familiarity with data analysis and the ability to use data to inform instructional decisions
- Strong knowledge of the ASD Principles of Instruction and their application in the classroom
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to foster relational trust and establish effective communication channels
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other stakeholders
- Strong organizational and time management skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the ability to move around the school and classroom.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- All persons employed by the Appoquinimink School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
- Anyone offered employment is required to provide the following: proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver’s License), documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A., completion of I-9 form, and completion of paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.

Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions set forth in the negotiated contract between the Appoquinimink School District Board of Education and the Appoquinimink Education Association, Affiliate of DSEA/NEA.
