This role will support Aprecia Pharmaceuticals in establishing and maintaining EHS policies, programs and procedures that ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and corporate standards. Some of these programs include the site Injury Illness & Prevention, Hazardous Communication, Emergency Action, and Personal Protective Equipment.

This role will support Aprecia Pharmaceuticals in establishing and maintaining EHS policies, programs and procedures that ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and corporate standards. Some of these programs include the site Injury Illness & Prevention, Hazardous Communication, Emergency Action, and Personal Protective Equipment.
| Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions): | |
| 1 | Serve as a technical resource to Aprecia in complex areas of EHS compliance, risk management, hazardous materials/waste, industrial hygiene, industrial safety, and /or ergonomics |
| 2 | Perform periodic audits to identify potential environmental and workplace hazards, program deficiencies, and liabilities. |
| 3 | Develop Safety Operating Standards (SOSs) and deliver training programs. |
| 4 | Conduct EHS reviews for new product development, facility modification, product manufacturing modifications and new equipment/machinery installations. |
| 5 | Assist in safety committee and awareness programs. |
| 6 | Be a safety advocate. Proactively look for opportunities to improve safety programs and educate and inspire employees to do the same. Drive and implement changes as needed. |
| 7 | Investigate accidents and/or incidents of a safety and ascertain cause and need for corrective action. Develop and implement measures and strategies to prevent their recurrence |
| 8 | Interface with regulatory agencies and third parties as needed based on project or program responsibilities. |
| 9 | Maintain routine safety and environmental reports and records and file the applicable permits (e.g., OSHA logs, EPA Storm water, air sampling). |
| 10 | Perform other miscellaneous job duties including some security roles as assigned by department management. |

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent technical knowledge of:
- Environmental laws and governmental regulations including that of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- Health and safety regulations including that of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
- Industrial Hygiene methods and controls.
- Health and safety management best practices
- The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills.
- Effective team development and networking skills with the ability to work independently using own initiative.
- Good time management skills.
- Excellent computer skills including fluency with MSOffice.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or related scientific discipline required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in EHS at a pharmaceutical or equivalent process related industry desired.
- Qualifications (one or more desired):
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) preferred
- ABIH (American Board of Industrial Hygiene)
- CSHM (Certified Safety and Health Manager)
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity to operate computers, keyboards, and other general office equipment.
- Occasional odd body positions (e.g. twisting, bending, and kneeling) for brief periods of time.
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to outdoor elements (e.g., hot weather, cold weather, precipitation) for brief periods of time.
- Occasional respirator use required for monitoring manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, packaging activities. Facial hair restrictions associated with proper respirator use required.
