We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer & Lab Manager! The right fit for this role will provide leadership for Electronics and Mechanical Lab management for hardware, firmware, mobile application and system design validations. They will also aide in the development and execution of test plans to ensure product performance and reliability to meet design specifications and compliant with variety of industry standards and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
Your day will include:
- Managing product testing Lab personnel and on-going design validation projects, ensuring the proper validation process is followed, and training test engineers and technicians how to develop comprehensive test plans and write test procedures.
- Developing and optimizing the design validation process and implement it within engineering team and the contract team, ensure the proper operation of product validation process, experiment design, and test data analysis and reports.
- Collaborating with design and production team for more effective design validation and FRACAS (Failure Report and Corrective Action System) management.
- Developing comprehensive test plan and test matrix, and designing test cases for system validation, and improving the test process for more efficient system verification and validation
- Developing and implement the reliability test plans (HALT, ALT and Qualification) for either new component qualification, or field failure root cause analysis, integrate the FMEA into the reliability testing process to ensure the critical functions and failure modes are addressed
- Conducting test data analysis with statistical tools to drive corrective actions, design change, reliability improvement, or new component/supplier evaluation
- Overseeing the warranty performance and perform warranty data analysis for product field performance evaluation and warranty trend prediction; establishing reliability baseline for new product development, identify critical issues and lead reliability improvement projects
- Working with Robust Design Lead, develop training materials and train engineering team on quality assurance and reliability engineering tools, like design of experiments, control chart, accelerated life testing, and failure analysis, etc.
- Working with product engineers on design specification development, supplier quality and reliability evaluation; providing consultation or technical support to manufacturing/design partners on reliability testing, test procedure development, and data analysis
Qualifications

- Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or physical sciences.
- ASQ Certification, or equivalent, preferred.
- 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- HVAC industry experience preferred.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a technical team to strive for excellence
- An open and transparent communication style that builds trust, and a collaborative management style that creates ownership and inspires a high level of engagement.
- A process driven mentality; understanding of the best way to measure activity leading to better results.
- Adept at managing details and handling multiple priorities.
- Ability to effectively communicate within the organization
- Ability to successfully lead project teams.
- Deep familiarity with industrial and military environmental, UL, and EMI standards.
- Demonstrated capabilities in failure mode analysis
- Deep understanding of statistical analysis
- Demonstrated understanding of analytic tools
- Demonstrated capabilities in reliability analysis (including warranty trend investigation tools and techniques)
- Demonstrated command of heat transfer thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
- Demonstrated capabilities in ALT, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), and DOE (Design of Experiments)
- Deep understanding of statistical analysis and strong skills of using analytic tools, like, Weilbull and Minitab
- Experience with LabVIEW desirable
