Summary

Generation Long Range Forecast (LRF) Engineer III | Senior - applies in-depth technical, power plant knowledge and expertise to the development of complex, multi-disciplinary engineering, and construction projects for implementation under the Capital Projects program utilizing 3rd party engineering and construction services.

What your day would be like:

You are responsible for:

  • Works with power plant personnel and engineers to examine system and component health problems and determine if a project is needed to maintain the reliability of system(s) and component(s).
  • With input from plant and engineering stakeholders, the LRF Engineer develops the scope, cost, schedule, risk matrix, and justification for large to small scale Generation projects for annual presentation of the Generation (non-nuclear) Capital Budget and 10-year LRF.
Minimum Requirements

Generation Long Range Forecast (LRF) Engineer III

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution
  • PLUS five (5) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.

Generation Long Range Forecast (LRF) Engineer, Senior

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution
  • PLUS eight (8) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.

Approved degrees:Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Math, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Architectural, Structural.(A four-year bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is not considered an automatic equivalent for a B.S. degree in Engineering.A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.)

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • Must possess comprehensive knowledge of energy analysis, engineering applications, business, and finance, working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, and methods in an individual's engineering discipline.
  • Experience in the utility industry.
  • Must have good understanding of construction, operating and engineering practices; safety rules and company policies.
Major Accountabilities

1) Present Engineering recommendations and drive decisions that have a moderate to high effect on the overall Generation performance.

2) Influence long term Generation goals and objectives through development of projects.

3) Provide engineering expertise in one or more areas, with a depth of knowledge in related field or a wide breadth of engineering knowledge in multiple fields.

4) Contacts internal customers and various levels of engineering and plant management to obtain or present technical data. Presents the results of designs, feasibility studies or varying alternatives to subordinates, colleagues, management, and customers in support of solving problems and driving decisions.

5) Define individual goals. Has capability to work within defined processes, solving problems with stakeholder engagement and minimal direction. Work is reviewed from a long-term perspective, to ensure alignment with organization strategic vision.

6) Establishes most effective solution to Generation problems. Sought out for solutions that are acted on as a final technical basis for problems identified by Generation plants.

7) Develops and applies technical solutions which require original and creative approaches. Provides unique solutions and applications to a broad range of technical problems.

8) Plans, coordinates, sets priorities, and applies resources to meet with applicable stakeholders and develop low to high complexity projects and/or processes.

7) Takes initiative to eliminate barriers and uses resources to ensure desired results.

8) Independently reviews complex-engineering analyses, prepares project scopes, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations, studies, technical reviews, investigations and verifications.

9) Prepares, checks and reviews non-standard analysis, evaluations, and investigations prepared by others.

10) Coordinates, administers, and provides technical direction to less experienced engineers andmay research new developments and technologies, aligning the strategic vision of the company with planned future projects.

FlexRole:
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
