We’re looking for an electro-mechanical technician to join our production team This position is located at our Wallingford, CT facility.
In this role the electro-mechanical technician will test, troubleshoot and repair complex APS Technology equipment such as test boxes, interpret test results and provide written recommendations for changes to product design/processes. Following written or verbal instruction, the electro-mechanical technician will assemble products to blueprint and/or schematic specifications using a variety of hand tools including some precision soldering techniques. The electro-mechanical technician will be working with our engineering team recommending changes in design, manufacturing procedures and testing equipment to improve manufacturability or reliability. This position will also be responsible for keeping accurate records of time spent on each item and any problems encountered including documenting and maintaining inspection reports, material specifications, and laboratory reports for all manufactured and tested parts.
We are searching for a candidate who has two years’ technical education and 1 or more years related technician experience or the equivalent. Soldering splicing and soldering skills required. Must be mechanically inclined and able to use hand tools such as gauges, screwdriver and be able to read torque.
Other skills required include the ability to perform all manual assembly and technician operations, have strong written and oral communication skills and possess strong computer skills. A comprehensive knowledge of criteria for the handling of electronic assemblies, mechanical assemblies, component installation, location, orientation, soldering, cleanliness of assemblies, marking of assemblies, coatings, laminate conditions, discrete wiring assembly and surface mount assemblies. Understanding the proper ESD practices, ability to read micrometers, verniers, torques and other measuring equipment along with the ability to read complex drawings, schematics, and blueprints is a must. This position will also require troubleshooting when needed.
