Job Overview:
Responsible for identification, handling and disposal of ordnance in direct compliance with all company and regulatory requirements. Must be familiar with and have the ability to carry out all job performance requirements in accordance with operational procedures.
THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN WHIDBEY ISLAND, WA
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Responsible for identifying all types of military munitions, including possible fuses and their condition, armed and unarmed.
- Reconnoiter and classify UXO and Discarded Military Munitions (DMM).
- Excavate subsurface UXO and DMM and move and/or consolidate materials that have been determined safe to move by UXO supervisor.
- May be part of a UXO demolition and disposal team and assist in the inspection various explosive ordnance
- Properly store explosive materials and prepare an on-site holding area to temporarily stow MEC that has an acceptable risk of movement.
- Perform all duties assigned to a UXO Technician I.

- Perform limited technical supervision of UXO Technician I's and UXO Sweeper personnel.
- Escort non-UXO qualified personnel that have activities to perform within the UXO exclusion zone.
- Assist in the inspection of Material Potentially Presenting Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) for the presence of explosive safety hazards..
Basic Qualifications:
- Specialized training and certification as dictated by regulatory requirements (OSHA 1910.120 40 hour HAZWOPER, applicable 8 hour OSHA training, as required annually.
- A high school diploma (or equivalent) and valid driver's license, with clean driving record is required.
- Must have completed formal UXO training by a certified Department of Defense training facility.
- Must meet the UXO Technician II requirements as promulgated by DDESB TP-18.
- Graduate of a formal training course of instruction with 3 years of UXO Technician I experience
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must have the ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and/or pre-employment physical.
- Work will require to have the ability to wear a respirator.
- Working in both indoor and outdoor environments, in a variety of weather conditions and usually under direct supervision.
- Must be willing to travel, as required, and availability to report to work upon "short notice" (within 24 hours) of job assignment.
