Job Summary
Aptive is seeking a Vice President (VP) of Service Delivery to support our rapidly growing Human Experience account. They will oversee a portfolio of projects across a wide variety of communications, marketing, advertising, business operations, human capital and technology consulting disciplines and a team of over 100 consultants.
The role is accountable for service delivery quality, profit and loss oversight, staff utilization, organic growth and effective ongoing collaboration with Aptive’s growth team. The successful candidate must have familiarity with both marketing communications and digital technologies and demonstrated success as a professional services leader. Additionally, he or she should have extensive experience supporting federal clients, comprehensive program management and functional consulting expertise and demonstrated supervisory and management skills are essential.
This individual must be able to communicate effectively with both clients and team members to understand requirements and provide recommendations that have a direct impact on the program or mission.
This individual must be able to become a trusted advisor, fostering relationships with potential clients to understand priorities and pain points that inform upcoming business development efforts. This position needs an individual that is committed to providing superior service, poised under pressure and has a positive and flexible attitude.
This hybrid position is located at Aptive headquarters in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as escalation POC for a portfolio of more than 20 projects across numerous federal agencies, working closely with Directors, Senior Managers and direct customer points of contact to ensure successful client delivery, contractual compliance and contract growth
- Oversee management of business line tasks and milestones, including forecasting for a portfolio of projects and managing project P&L
- Financial management including development of level of effort estimates and pricing for proposed contract modifications
- Manage shared service capability teams including creative/design, paid media and formative research
- Assist with the implementation of Jira to improve project management and visibility of tasks across projects and business line
- Facilitate quarterly check-in meetings with clients to solicit feedback, document performance and identify focus areas for enhancement or improvement
- Provide project quality assurance and deliverable reviews to help ensure conformance to defined project requirements
- Oversee development of consulting strategies and implement tactics in support of major federal agency programs
- Assist project teams with conducting measurement activities to evaluate the effectiveness of communications efforts towards achieving intended outcomes
- Build and foster relationships with federal partners and internal team members
- Remain up to date on industry trends and innovative ways to deliver solutions
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Proven experience leading a large multimillion dollar portfolio of projects and a team of more than 50 cross-functional staff (including indirect reports).
- Deep understanding of project financial and contract management, including profitability, scope adherence and organic growth.
- 10 years of experience leading cross-functional teams (e.g., creative, media, UX) to deliver high quality communications, marketing and digital strategies that achieve customer objectives
- 10 years of experience with planning, developing, executing and assessing comprehensive consulting engagements with varied customers in the public and private sectors
- 7 years of experience with federal government program and project management
- Experience working across specialties (e.g., technology, health, digital) to provide better and innovative solutions to clients
- Proven leadership skills and aptitude to make informed decisions and recommendations
- Experience overseeing multiple contracts and supporting several different clients simultaneously
- Exceptional written, oral, listening and presentation skills
- Ability to productively collaborate with a wide range of personality types while meeting assignment demands
- Confidence and poise to work closely with senior executives
- Legal Authorization to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
- PMP certification is strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with a high-level attention to detail and ability to carry out multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Ability to coordinate with a project team, interact with senior-level executives and represent the client among internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
- Detail-oriented, analytical multitasker; capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to coordinate and direct personnel, lead teams and work independently with minimal guidance or supervision
- Ability to adapt to various people and working styles under tight deadlines
- Master’s degree in a related field plus
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain the rationale behind creative ideas to both clients and internal teams
- Deep knowledge of industry best practices and the ability to quickly identify, address and incorporate emerging trends into program design
- Experience leading pursuit of federal government contracts from capture to submission
